For this bold and playful design, Laka_Rem chose attention grabbing characters to spark curiosity about one of Bacalar's most extraordinary natural wonders: its ancient stromatolites.The animals are not connected to these living structures - the artwork is an invitation to look closer, ask questions, and "Googlea estromatolito". 

Bacalar is home to the world's largest freshwater microbialite ecosystems. These remarkable living structures are formed slowly by communities of microorganisms related to some of Earth's earliest life forms, offering a glimpse into our planet's distant past. 

These fragile ecosystems depend on clean balanced water. Help protect them by avoiding sunscreen of any kind (including reef safe!) before entering the lagoon, wearing UPF protective clothing instead, and never touching or standing on the stromatolites.
